What's the Soil pH? If you remember my post on soil pH readings, you'll know that the color of a hydrangea is determined by the pH of the soil. One pH reading creates pink flowers and one creates blue flowers. Since these flowers are blue, do you know what the soil's pH must be?

Definition: Soil pH Soil pH is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of soil. It's measured on a scale of one to 14, with seven as the neutral mark. So, anything that measures below seven is considered acidic and anything above seven is considered alkaline.
