Danish are invincible — at least in terms of modern design. Design firm Normann Copenhagen's
Storm Pot ($44-$63) is both a flower pot and a water reservoir. The simple and ingenious aluminum pots have a single drain hole and the whole bottom half of the pot is the reservoir, so your plants will never go thirsty.

London-based designer Tithi Kutchamuch design was too lazy to lean her outdoor chairs against a wall in case of rain when her mom asked. Instead, she designed her
My Sky My Water My Garden (inquire for price), a garden table that collects water in its central base, which can be used as a pot for plants and flowers, potentially saving 178-510 liters of water a year. The design functions as a table, a cache-pot, and a watering can all in one.

Instead of dropping dollars on
planters, you can make hanging grow bags for your plants, which are portable and simple. If you're growing stylish, colorful flowers, there's no need to get fancy with glazed pots or antique planters. You most likely own most of the supplies needed for this project as well; who can argue with that?
