I just got an email introducing me to a shop called
Spectrum West that sells "post modern acrylic furniture and accessories for the modern home decor enthusiast." As you know, I'm an enthusiast of both
acrylic furniture and modern décor, so it sounded right up my alley. Spectrum West is a new venture by
Spectrum Limited, a company that's been manufacturing high quality acrylic furniture for 25 years.

While Beehive Kitchenware Company does make measuring cups and lemon juicers, their range of fanciful metal accents ensures that you can use them in any room of your home. I have my eyes on
Beehive's Paisley Hooks ($27) myself, though there are plenty of other pieces that have enchanted me. The company, which is located in Massachusetts, is owned and operated by Jim Dowd and Sandra Bonazoli.

If you're in the market for some tableware or serving dishes, check out
TableElegance, a new online shop that specializes in modern, sophisticated tabletop items. From octopus napkin rings (which I covet) to simple, pretty tablecloths, this online destination has everything you need to outfit your table for an elegant dinner party.
Check out
the site for the entire collection of well-chosen, artisanal items, or look below for my favorite finds.

I've told you about
patchwork chair makeovers and
facelifts for the Egg chair, but by far, my favorite patchwork reupholsterer is the iconic and eccentric East London company
Squint. Started by sculptor and painter Lisa Whatmough just three years ago, the company has grown by leaps and bounds, and now has a full range of items, from chairs and chaises to pendant lamps and mirrors.

I'm a huge fan of eco-minded furniture design shop The Joinery, which is located in Portland, OR. The Joinery handcrafts high-end furniture using traditional woodworking techniques in a variety of styles, including modern, shaker, mission, and arts and crafts styles, as well as custom pieces.
Taking a cue from the needs of its customers, who are often downsizing to smaller urban spaces, The Joinery has recently developed its Modern line.
