I'm saddened to announce that one of the precious pets of the current first family has passed away –
this cute cat died Sunday at the Executive Mansion at the age of 18. The lil girl had many names; she was originally called "India" after the former Texas Ranger baseball player, Ruben Sierra (nicknamed "El Indio"), before the then 9-year-old Barbara Bush renamed her "Willie" when she joined their family. When the twins went off to college in 2000, they left their cat at home in the White House with President and Mrs.

I can't think of any other dog that's been more anticipated by the general population than the yet-to-be chosen, announced, named, or introduced addition to the Obama family. If we're all so excited, wanting to share our opinions for their pet, can you imagine what lil Sasha and Malia are feeling?! I know this was my
favorite Barack Obama moment of the year, so I've backtracked to round up some of my fave posts about one of the
Biggest Headlines of 2008.

With President-Elect Barack Obama taking office in two months, changes to our country's economy, national security, and foreign policy are imminent. But will America's agricultural system change with Obama in the White House as well? In an
interview last month with Time magazine's Joe Klein, Obama commented on a
recent article in the New York Times written by Michael Pollan, the country's preeminent critic of modern factory agriculture, saying:Our entire agricultural system is built on cheap oil.
Don't get jealous lil guy! Seems like Barney (one of the two Scotties belonging to George W. Bush) may sense that another pup –
one that we haven't even seen yet! – is already at the top of everyone's list.
Seems like
everyone wants to get in their two cents on the new Obama puppy, and even Jon Stewart chimed in with a couple strong contestants that need to take a trip down the "Road to the Doghouse." It's a bumpy path – complete with maverick – watch the video below and see what you think.

I'd have to say my favorite part of
last night's events, was when the president-elect announced to his young daughters, "Sasha and Malia, I love you both so much, and you have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House." Now, this wasn't news to me but many people haven't been following the
Obamas' doggie decisions as carefully as I have. He originally made the promise that, no matter the outcome, a puppy would make them a party of five after the campaign was over .

Regardless of
who you voted for, last night was a
monumental night in American history. I wasn't feeling so well, so I watched history unfold at home with a beer, although in any other capacity I would've attended PartySugar and LibertySugar's
election night bash.
How did you ring in the election?
Remember those political toys of
"Bark Obama" and "John McCanine"? Well, before I voted, I decided to let North cast his ballot at home. Watch this video and tell me which toy he preferred.

Happy Election Day, everybody! If you're a Californian, you're also deciding the fate of gay marriage in this state. There have been a lot of controversial ads, but this is the first geeky one I've seen.

Last week
I couldn't stop gushing about Ike's Place, my new favorite sandwich joint in town. Well, this weekend, I made a return trip there and tried one of their new offerings, an
election-minded sandwich called The Palin.
Generously sized for its $8.98 price tag, The Palin was jam-packed with shredded chicken breast, deep-fried mozzarella sticks, blue cheese, and
Frank's Red Hot Sauce.
