I have a tendency to want to hibernate a little when Winter rolls around, so out come the blankets and the comfy throw pillows. I love spending a snowy day curled up under a blanket with a mug of tea and a good DVD.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who indulges in some wintertime hibernating, so if you have someone in your life who's known for cozying up on the couch, give them what they want: more ways to get cozy!

With that in mind, I've rounded up a bunch of gorgeous throws, pillows, and blankets that will have the cozy cuddler in your life swooning (and then disappearing onto the nearest sofa) when she opens her present.

Last night I was watching Gossip Girl re-runs online, and naturally was forced to watch short commercials during the show. God forbid I be torn from Chace Crawford for 24 seconds! Luckily, I was kind of entertained by a Maria Sharapova Canon Powershot commercial; not because I'm a fan, but because her dog, Dolce, becomes a bit of a camera whore when passersby fall in love with the pooch. If these pillows look familiar, it may be because you spotted the same fabric on my Park(ing) Day tent. The graphic black and white upholstery fabric from Ikea was perfect for making some small pillows for my sofa. I whipped up these two pillows in less than half an hour from start to finish.

This Palin Change Pillow by artist Lauren Frances Adams is part of the Pro/Con Political Craft exhibition at Rebus Works gallery in Raleigh, NC.According to her artist statement:

Utilizing visual humor, Adams recalls typical domestic situations to explore political vacillations and permeability of red-versus-blue mentality. Adams is particularly interested in presenting situations that examine American consumerism, nationalist military defense, and political identity.

This Just In: Trina Turk Makes Her Foray Into Interiors

After 13 years as a fashion designer, Trina Turk is making her foray into the world of interiors, according to WWD. Armed with new investment capital, she has taken her "vivid signature prints from her classic sportswear to plush pillows, sleek Lucite chairs and other home furnishings." In Spring 2009, Turk will also collaborate with F. Schumacher & Co. "to produce outdoor upholstery fabrics that are resistant to fading, water and stains," bringing her signature style to your outdoor furnishings. Turk is also seeing growth in other areas, venturing heavily into retail rather than primarily wholesale.
Turk's Palm Springs and Los Angeles outposts were designed by none other than Kelly Wearstler, and I couldn't think of a better match. Wearstler really did a fantastic job of emulating that beach and resort style with the casual glamour that is so distinct to Turk's designs. But, I always hoped to see Turk venture into interiors herself, so I'm thrilled that time has now come. Another tidbit of information: Turk's New York City camp was designed by Jonathan Adler. I'm so eager to see these designs: you know how I love my sleek Lucite chairs! Of course, I'll share images with you as soon as heavenly possible.

The crafty lady behind the blog Handmade by Alissa is a pretty sweet sister. When her sib Cate moved into a new house with a very unfinished cement blocked patio, she decided to give it a much-needed facelift by sewing some cheerful cushions and pillows. She sewed one long cushion to run along the cement block bench, two arm rests, and a handful of throw pillows.
