I love the balance of glorious, warm tones in Etsy seller
Laura Marie W's Maui Dozing (sold) oil on canvas painting. The combination of orange, green, lilac, and yellow is such an unusual one, but it really is breathtaking. The painting's landscape itself is actually what hit a soft spot in me, though.

Since Summer definitely isn't
endless, capture its essence with this limited edition print by artist Danna Ray. When you have
Wish You Were Here ($25) on your kitchen wall, you'll get a reminder of sunshine and lake dreams, even if snow is madly falling outside your window.
This archival print is produced with high-quality pigment-based inks on heavyweight paper, and is seven inches square, allowing room for matting and framing in a standard size frame. It would be a great addition to any room in the house, from nursery to bathroom.

Anna Fidler's artwork is a fantastical vision of gorgeous colors and odd landscapes haunted by an undercurrent of malevolent possibility. Fidler, who currently has a painting exhibition at the
Pulliam Deffenbaugh Gallery in Portland, mixes cool colors with unexpected shapes to create landscapes that are both alien and familiar. They remind me a little of something you'd see in an illustration for a
Tolkien book, and seem haunted by the possibility of imaginary creatures and wild animals creeping into the edges of the painting.

Think outside of the blanc. Put down your Benjamin Moore Decorator's White, and opt for color on your ceiling instead. You may think you're playing it safe by leaving yours white, but you're actually just ignoring the potential there.By painting your ceiling a pale hue of a cool color, such as green or blue, you will visually lift the ceiling, since those colors recede, instantly making a small room feel larger.

When you're painting your interiors, and the task takes more than one day, it's a pain in the butt to have to wash all of your brushes and supplies whenever you take a break. So instead of washing all of the paint off my brushes, I just pop them in the freezer in a plastic bag and defrost them when I need to get back to my paintstaking project. If you've got room to spare in your freezer, you might as well keep your brushes frozen even after your project is done.

Hi Casa,
My husband and I just bought our first house (yay!) in the Washington, DC, metro area. We love going to the local art fairs, and we just want some real art. We are huge art fans though we haven't been able to buy very much of it.

Ever remember burning your bare feet on a black top in the Summer as a kid. The black color of the paved surface absorbs the light particles that it hits, exciting the pavement's particles, making the black surface warmer because its particles are moving faster. Contrarily, white surfaces reflect light, so they are cooler.
According to Daily Mail, Babyshambles rocker, incarceree, and Kate Moss's former flame, Pete Doherty debuted an exhibition of his bloody paintings at the Chappe Gallery in the Montmartre district Paris last week, despite the fact that he's currently
serving time behind bars.
The gruesome exhibit features 30 paintings by l'artiste, including "one blood and pencil image of the supermodel, entitled 'Miss Moss reclines', shows her topless lying on a sofa," one self-portrait scribbled with "with the baffling initials S.K., V.I.C., a Star of David and a swastika," and in another, the known drug offender "signed his name in blood from one of his
needles," giving a whole new meaning to the term "needlework." While I do think people should have the right to decide what constitutes art, and it's always interesting to see boundaries tested, I must admit that I find this quite macabre. It'll be interesting to hear how the turnout goes; the exhibit runs until May 11.

San Francisco artist Phoebe Washer, who was only 20 years old, died this past Saturday in a tragic accident, when she
fell of a cliff when hiking with a friend in the Marin Headlands, just north of San Francisco. Washer grew up in Petaluma, CA, and had already shown at a number of galleries. Please take a look at her beautiful art, and then visit
her site to see even more images.
