The crafty lady behind the blog
Handmade by Alissa is a pretty sweet sister. When her sib Cate moved into a new house with a very unfinished cement blocked patio, she decided to give it a much-needed facelift by sewing some cheerful cushions and pillows. She sewed one long cushion to run along the cement block bench, two arm rests, and a handful of throw pillows.
In full Summer vacation mode, Gossip guy Chace Crawford recently did some light reading, drank a fountain soda, and lounged in a sophisticated striped chair in a London park. If you happen to live in L-town and want to do some lounging of your own, a little
investigative Flickr-ing suggests that you can do the same in Hyde Park. If you live on the other side of the pond, no worries, I've gone and found those purdy chairs for you.

Whether you hang this from a tree in your backyard or integrate it into a beach house living room, the
Urban Balance Cove ($998) will add a coveted seating area to your home. I love this piece in part because it strikes the perfect compromise between the needs for childhood fun and adult design. It'll look great in a grown-up design scheme, while still giving your guests a whimsical place to sit.

Desire to Inspire proves that you can keep sitting in your adirondack chair long after the summer ends. The weathered outdoor seat looks perfectly at home in this living room, don't you think?
