Just in case you're not interested in going as
Jonathan Adler or
Simon Doonan this Halloween, I'm also providing you with a more feminine option: Kelly Wearstler.
If you're a
Top Design fan, as I am, you probably watch the show in part to check out Kelly Wearstler's kooky sartorial style. I adore her mix of high fashion with vintage finds and her daringly odd clothing combinations.

After 13 years as a fashion designer, Trina Turk is making her foray into the world of interiors,
according to WWD. Armed with new investment capital, she has taken her "vivid signature prints from her classic sportswear to plush pillows, sleek Lucite chairs and other home furnishings." In Spring 2009, Turk will also collaborate with F.

Browsing through
Kelly Wearstler's portfolio, I came across this image of a living room in a Santa Monica residence that she designed. While the traditional/Hollywood Regency style of the space is certainly elegant that's not the reason the photo caught my eye. The grayish-blue,
lattice-patterned rug was glaring back at me; it looked oddly familiar.

Kelly Wearstler. Her name is buzz-worthy in the design world these days, and you certainly recognize her pretty face. But how much do you really know about the lady?

A flagship development in the Caribbean's British West Indies, the
Viceroy Anguilla Resort and Residences, which is
described as an "array of luxury homes comprised of individual villas, townhomes, and low-rise resort residence buildings," with "sophisticated and contemporary interiors" designed by
Kelly Wearstler, has unveiled its model four-bedroom villa, which is open to buyers. Of the residences' design,
Wearstler has said, "We used textiles and techniques from all over the world, including hand-carved wood pieces from Asia, hammered metalwork from India, and beaded artwork from Africa, which offer a visual contrast with the modern architecture." The Viceroy Anguilla Resort and Residences, I might add, is a Kor Hotel Group property — a company owned by Wearstler's husband.

I just
heard from BuzzSugar, that "
Top Design will return in the Fall with new host India Hicks," and
Todd Oldham will stick around to mentor the designers, as well as all the judges from the first season, including
Kelly Wearstler,
Jonathan Adler, and editor in chief of
Elle Decor, Margaret Russell. If you're not familiar with India Hicks,
she is the daughter of "famed interior decorator, David Hicks, and Lady Pamela Hicks," as well as the god-daughter of Prince Charles. But, Hicks is not without a keen eye for design and notable skillset herself, she is a celebrated fashion model and design aficionado, and has published
interior design books on island living.
According to LA Times,
Kelly Wearstler is the first American interior designer to create a collection for the London-based
The Rug Company. There are currently eight of her designs on the company's website. The ethereal, organic feel of these designs is a clear departure from the Hollywood Regency style that she's known for.
I've had a girl crush on interior designer Kelly Wearstler for a while now. My crush was made official, though, when she was a judge on Bravo's
Top Design. Every week I would look forward to her experimental outfits and while some exclaimed: "Who is that chick with the crimped hair?"

Kelly Wearstler was recognized as one of the best interior designers by House Beautiful and one of the world's top tastemakers by the now deceased House & Garden. She was raised in South Carolina, and received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art, and later founded her own interior design firm,
Kelly Wearstler Inc. She is well known for her mod-baroque, Hollywood Regency-revival commercial interiors, such as the Viceroy Hotels in Palm Springs and Santa Monica, but also boasts a bustling portfolio of office, retail, restaurant, and residential work. Her book
Modern Glamour: The Art of Unexpected Style was published in 2004, and
Domicilium Decoratus in 2005.
