Mommy Dearest,
My mother-in-law buys our children lots of gifts, but gives them all to them well before Christmas. So when the holiday finally arrives and we head to her house for dinner there's nothing to open under the tree. My daughters are always sad when they have to sit and watch their cousins open their presents.

It's never too early to get started on holiday DIYs! I've rounded up some projects that will make great gifts, as well as DIYs for making wreaths and wrapping paper. To get the lowdown, check out the slideshow.

Buying gifts for lil ones can be a lot of fun, but for the gift giver who wants her present to stand out among the heaping pile of blankets, onesies, and burp cloths, it can be a difficult task to take on.
One site, eBeanstalk.com, has made the gift giving process a little bit easier and a lot more fun. The company specializes in Gift Series ($82 and up), where the child will receive four developmental and learning toys over a 12-month period.

I'm one of the few who thinks there's nothing wrong with giving a gift card (especially because I love to get gift cards). If you have some reservations about them being boring gifts, then you may reconsider — Target is introducing gift cards that double as mini digital cameras, while Best Buy will have gift cards that are also speakers!
With such fun stuff built into the gift cards, you may not want to redeem them.

There are several reasons why Halloween is one of my favorite holidays: First, it's the only day when it's legitimate to wear the most outlandish thing you can think of and get away with it. Furthermore, it's a permissible excuse for adults to return to their youth, reveling in haunted houses and other spooky surprises. And last, but not least, it's entirely acceptable to exchange (and eat) unlimited amounts of candy.

Dear Sugar,
My husband and I had a decent size wedding of about 120 people. Each guest cost my parents about $130. One family we invited sticks out in particular.

Mommy Dearest,
I am 30 weeks pregnant and a friend asked me what I plan to buy for the doctor and nurses that deliver my baby. I hadn't thought about getting them anything. She bought cigars for the doctor and flowers for the nurses that delivered her babies and said it's customary to give gifts.

It may be meant for kids, but I think HoweePup is pretty cute . . .
