I like the wrap-around, bucket-like shape of the Crate & Barrel Azure Chair ($1,099), and its eco-friendly construction. But, I'm not sold on the tufting; it looks a little odd to me.

Nice and New: Pottery Barn Leah Desk

A friend of mine has the Neiman Marcus Mirrored Vanity ($899) and I love its flip-up center storage compartment, but I've been feeling lately that mirrored furniture is heading for the "out" bin. So, I was delighted to come across the Leah Desk ($469) in champagne at Pottery Barn. The desk also has a center section that lifts to reveal a beveled mirror and a faux drawer front that folds down to store accessories. Whether you're using the desk to do work, surf the web, or get all gussied up, it has a has a power strip that provides a central place to plug in your Macbook or your straightener. Aside from the technical features, I'm loving its glam champagne turned-wood legs and unexpected red painted interior finish. What do you think?

Before and After: An Editor's Refurbished Finds

Anne E. Collins, editor of PointClickHome , recently refurbished some antique furniture finds. She says, "I tend to fall in love with run-down objects. I look right past the chipping paint and wobbly frame and see (with rose-colored glasses) a decorating project." Anne picked these pieces up at the Old Country Store outside Rhinebeck, NY, and she and her husband spent a frantic few days stripping, painting, drilling, and repairing. Good, Better, Best: Branch/Root Console Tables

I've been noticing these branch-base console tables at a few of my usual design haunts, and thought perhaps it's a growing a trend. I'm really loving the organic, textural quality they bring to a room, especially considering that many homes are leaning towards a more pared-down, modern look these days.

Good: Shown above is the Ballard Designs Faux Bois Demilune Table ($699, reduced from $1,495). I certainly love its half-moon shape and how the table top looks like a slice off of an old tree stump. But as the name suggests, the base is actually made from a concrete-like resin over a sturdy metal frame, not genuine branches. That's a turn off to me, although the price is more affordable than others.

I just got an email introducing me to a shop called Spectrum West that sells "post modern acrylic furniture and accessories for the modern home decor enthusiast." Pet Peeves: Kitty Confuses Chair For Litterbox!

Q: My kitty keeps peeing on a chair in my living room. At first I wasn't sure, but I know that stench all too well and several times it's still been damp to the touch when I get home from work. I don't want this problem to spread so how do I save my couch and other chairs?

A: Most cats hate citrusy smells – similar to keeping them away from your plants with lemon halves, sprays, or peel shavings, soak a cotton ball with lemon juice and place it on that chair, near the spot where your cat continues to relieve herself.

Another way to keep felines off furniture is aluminum foil – cats typically don't like the sound nor feeling under their paws and should stop jumping up once you put it there. In fact, you shouldn't have to do this forever (that could get annoying when you want to plop down to watch TV and again before you go to bed) as kitties easily recall such things.

Love It or Hate It? Wallflower Wallrack

While I do applaud the Wallflower Wallrack (inquire for price) for doing without the use of screws, dowels, or tools (it stays stable thanks to four elastic buffers and a steel leg), its stainless steel leg is a space hog. And, at seven in the morning, when you're half-awake entering the bathroom to wash your face, the chance of tripping on that protruding leg is a real possibility. But . . . at least it looks cool.
