I love seeing the offices of design mavens because they inevitably have some fabulous desktop wallpaper on the screen for the photo op, always something that complements the rest of the design of the office.
Case in point:
Making it Lovely's Nicole shared her office recently, and my eye gravitated immediately to her Mac and the art on her desktop, the colors of which coordinate with the dominant pinks and reds of her office space.
I too enjoy a pretty, serene wallpaper as the setting for the madness that takes place on top of it; right now I can't seem to shake the
Kaiku Marimekko pattern.

I love to customize! From getting my
BlackBerry engraved at the TechCrunch/Popsugar shindig in LA, to downloading
some pretty wild wallpaper to bring out my inner animal and make me feel at home while I'm at the office. I do all I can to show my personality and prevent desktop boredom, even when it comes to my gadgets, which is why I switch it up and get down with cool (and free!) desktop icons through
Iconfactory.

I haven't purchased a desktop in the past ten years. Considering how much I love to travel and the type of work I do I can't imagine having to sit in the same place every time I use the computer. Still, I completely understand that some people need the added memory and "power" of a desktop.

Accessory makers are churning out plushies — small stuffed animals or characters — so fast that even the most serious fanatic can't keep up. While I don't see any purpose in collecting regular plushies, I have fallen for the cell phone holders, which make fun desktop accessories.
I'm currently in love with the
Plushie cell phone holder by Bale Living.

If you haven't guessed it already, I'm a huge
National Geographic fan. I've already discussed how you can download the free
National Geographic POD that will update your background with a new National Geographic image each day. Well National Geographic has just added more stunning high resolution
photography wallpapers to their collection.

It's not everyday I come across fun customization accessories for desktops, but rest assured they do exist. Just like these colorful iMac covers by
ChroMac which wrap around the outside of your white iMac. These metal-plated cases are available in 11 different color coatings including 24k
gold, platinum, chrome, and lime green and cost around $500 each.

Spell it out on his desktop.
(Some dude found this "note" from his wife when he came home from drinking one night.)

Last week I asked you readers to share
your computer make and model and let me know what you love or hate about it by bookmarking it on TeamSugar. To my surprise, the results were incredibly varied, but it seems most of you use laptops. From the Dell XPS Notebook, Apple MacBook, HP Compaq nx7300 Notebook PC, to the Dell Latitude D620, geeksugar readers seem to run the gamut of computer brands, models and makes.

Word on the street is
two out of five Japanese women regularly have conversations with their computers, while 10.2 percent of women gave their computer a nickname, such as "Mac-kun," "Pasoko," "Pudding" or my personal favorite, "Princess." If you have a similar relationship with your computer, I'm guessing you want everyone in the world to know all about it. Its quirks, its personality traits, and on occasion, its bad manners.

Time to get in the holiday spirit and decorate your desktop wallpaper!
For simple steps on how to change your desktop, just
- Open Display in Control Panel.
- On the Desktop tab, do one or more of the following: Click a picture in the Background list. In Position, click Center, Tile, or Stretch.
- Click Browse to search for a background picture in other folders or on other drives.
