Fall presents a plethora of rich colors that we should
incorporate into our wardrobes. Neutrals, browns, blues, greens, reds, yellows — jewel tones — are all part of the fun. Unlike Summer hues, these are moody and resemble the beautiful nature outside.

Katiepwise recently moved to Washington DC, where she's done a fabulous job of making her apartment simultaneously vibrant and cozy. Describing her style, she says, "I love bright colors and am not afraid to use them. I mix Ikea furniture with hand-me-down pieces from family.

When I was walking to work this morning, I passed by this cute stucco house. I absolutely love this quirky combination of muted turquoise and adobe tan. Is it too much for you, or can you see its charm as well?

Sometimes all it takes is the smallest accent of a feminine shade to make a more rough hewn, masculine room really sing. Without the pink of the flowers, the pearly sheen to the wall, or the pink of the blanket I doubt that this room would look as pulled together as it does.

While I've always been the first in line to whip out the
paint brush and slap on a coat of deeply saturated blue or green, lately I've been rethinking this strategy. Doesn't this bedroom look like the most serene, lovely sleeping space ever? Maybe white is the new It color scheme .

Sometimes it's the small stuff that catches my eye the most. Never mind that strips of wood are peeling from this door, or that there was a crack in the window. When I walked past this house, all I could see was the great
contrast of colors and that pretty antique door handle.

One way to make your
small pad seem visually expansive is by exercising a light touch with your color scheme. If you use lighter textiles for upholstery, blond wood for large furniture pieces, and a lighter color palette for your walls, your small space will gain some visual square footage.

I love decorating with colors inspired by nature. These buildings remind me that I must resume my search for the perfect earthy, pretty green reflected in the building on the right.

Spring Fashion Week in New York, and I can't help but notice that many of the hot colors from
Benjamin Moore's 2008 Color Trends Report are also showing up on the runway. In particular, these looks from the
DKNY show rely heavily on the Gypsy Pink and Rockport Gray.
