It's a new year for the youngsters of
Gossip Girl but that doesn't mean much has changed since
we saw them last. Chuck's still mean and boozy, everyone still has secrets, and Little Jenny is still caught up with those mean rich girls at school.
Also, Lily and Rufus are still grappling with the fact that they have the hots for each other but can't be together because Lily kept that huge secret from him for 20 years.

While the stars of the movie didn't make it, some big names hit the red carpet at a NY screening of
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button last night. The movie scored all the big
Golden Globe nominations walking away with five total. Mary-Kate Olsen's role in
The Wackness wasn't quite recognized by the HFPA but she was happy to come out and see the unusual looking film.

New York got even cooler last night when the pretty young things came out to celebrate Ray-Ban Clubmaster Shades. Fresh off perhaps the
most intense episode of the show ever, the
Gossip Girl boys joined by Blake Lively —
stylish as always — came out for the party.
Ed and Jessica may not be the only possible new offscreen GG romance, supposedly
Chace and Taylor were spotted making out at their holiday party.

Chace Crawford and Taylor Momsen were apparently
spotted making out at the
Gossip Girl holiday party in NYC recently, although Chace's rep denied the rumor. With Jessica Szohr and Ed Westwick's
supposed kissing session at the airport, and Blake and Penn's relationship, it seems like the offscreen romances are just as common as the ones on their show. On-screen they're just a couple years apart, but in real life Taylor is only 15 and Chace is 23 so tell us — do you think Chace and Taylor hooking up is cute or gross?

This week's episode of
Gossip Girl is pretty dark, and I'm not just talking about the funeral wardrobe. In the spirit of not being too spoilery, I won't say who kicks the bucket, but let's just say it sounds like Dart Lass. Tragedy seems to have put a halt to this humanizing of Chuck that's gone on all season (hanging with Eric, softening to Blair, etc.).

Last time we hung out with the kids from
Gossip Girl, it was Thanksgiving and
things seemed to be mellowing out. Jenny stopped with the divorcing of the parents and moved back in with Rufus, Serena and Aaron settled in to an exclusive relationship, Blair got to see her dad, and Chuck and Nate made nice.
But now that the mini-break is over, the drama's starting up again, and this week's episode is basically a slow build to the annual Snowflake Ball, where everyone eventually turns up one way or another.

The stars of
Gossip Girl were dressed for Winter to film around NYC yesterday. Blake Lively kept Penny warm under her coat as usual and Leighton Meester bundled up in Uggs before changing into heels for the camera. While Blair Waldorf isn't one for tennis shoes, in real life Leighton and Ed Westwick are both
promoting sneaker lines.

Milk arrived in NYC last night with all its handsome stars out for the red carpet. Details helped host the event and
recent cover boy Chace Crawford got dressed up and his usually shaggy hair was perfectly coiffed to attend the screening. Downtown from his
grad school in the Upper West Side, Columbia, James Franco let both his hair and facial hair look a little more unruly, but he can certainly pull it off.

On this week's
Gossip Girl there aren't things like murders or drug overdoses, which I was hoping for kind of expecting given the show's history. In fact, it seems like everyone puts aside their differences for one day in the spirit of Thanksgiving despite the fact that Gossip Girl hinted there would be "lying, manipulation, and betrayal" on the Upper East Side.
The entire cast is present in this episode, too, and it seems like all loose ends from the past couple of episodes have been tied up, while the seeds for future intrigue are definitely sown.
