Everyone has a few quick, two-minute hairstyles that we throw together when we're running late. But few of mine look as cute as this one. While backstage at the
Karen Walker Spring 2009 show, I spotted
Teen Vogue Beauty Assistant Maura Lynch sporting this cool twist on braids.

After designers showcased multiple braids this season, including the
skinny pirate plaits at Jean Paul Gaultier, the braid could well be crowned the hair trend of the 2008. While
most of you love this look it has become a touch ubiquitous in celebrity world, with both Nicole Richie and
Jessica Simpson making the trend their own, with single, double and triple braid styles.
Last night, at Dolce in London, Jennifer Ellison followed suit with a Grecian, milkmaid braid wrapped around the crown of her head, as well as a fluffed-up, pulled-back up do.

It was a rather windy day here in San Francisco. We had a scarf, and a Sugar girl with some gorgeous, albeit overly wind-blown long hair. Instead of doing a regular old ponytail or braid, we opted for something just a little different.

The idea of plaiting your hair, once you're older than nine, can seem a little twee. No one wants to look like a school girl, with innocent plaited pigtails, but I have to admit I am quite fond of plaiting my hair.
It's such as easy style for summer and celebrities have been showing off plaited hair for a while now - just think of Jessica Simpson's
single, double and triple braid looks in her blonde hair, while Nicole Richie often wears
plaits with a bun.
Is this a look you'd actually wear?

Jessica Simpson was one of the original three to launch the
summertime braids look. Last year, she would often wear her hair half-up and half down with a loosely woven braid that ran along either side of her head. In 2000 at the Teen Choice Awards, we saw a more youthful Jess donning a daring triple braid on the red carpet — and over the weekend, Jessica was seen performing her first
concert in over three years, but this time she has a pretty single plait on the left side of her hair only.
Nicole Richie arrived at the A Time For Heroes Celebrity Carnival, an event that supports pediatric AIDS, with her hair styled in a center part, milkmaid braids on the sides, and everything secured in a low, messy bun in the back. I wonder if she's mastered the art of braiding herself by now? I'd like to think so, but something tells me that she's probably had help creating this intricate hairstyle.

Since this isn't a look you'd usually find on Salma Hayek, I just had to point it out. She usually goes for an ethereal goddess or a sophisticated and sexy look, not something quite this constructed. For the record, I can not believe how big
braids are this Summer, can you?

Yesterday, Rachel Bilson
did some shopping in Los Angeles with her hair styled in a low ponytail with a thin braid wrapped from ear to ear. This is a new take on the braid-band, as I like to call it. It's thinner and much more delicate than the
hippie braid or the
summer braid.

Nicole Richie
stepped out for a Starbucks run yesterday looking more hippie-chic than ever in a white tee and loose fitting
wide-legged jeans. However, it's her hairstyle that really makes Nicole's look stand out. I love how she's incorporated a braid into the
half-up hair with a twist style.

At yesterday's Gareth Pugh fashion show, models were covered in white powder, and their eyebrows, lips, eyeliner and lashes were painted electric blue. Their cheeks and eyes were dusted with aqua powder and their hair was twisted into a modified
modern cornrow. This is by far one of the more courageous — or should I say outrageous — runway makeup looks of the season.
