Happy Hour: Ruby Chai Appletini When I hear the word appletini, I can't help but cringe and think of a cloying, neon green cocktail. That's why, while at a recent Root Division art auction, when I saw that the specialty cocktail was an appletini, I avoided it. However, when I heard the appletini was a creation of one of San Francisco's best bartenders, H.

Reader Recipe: Pouding Chomeur From butternut squash mac and cheese to persimmon and pomegranate salad, lately I can't get enough of everything Fall. Desserts, in particular, are comforting in a way that no other dish can be, and FinnLover's pudding, with its Autumn spices, apples, and brown sugar syrup, embodies exactly that. To make this basic dessert and Québécois favorite, .

As American As Apple Crisp Party must be able to predict the future, well, at least mine, because this past weekend a friend dropped off a bushel of apples! After reading through your wonderful ideas and strongly debating on making those scrumptious apple and brie nachos, I opted for a traditional, exceptionally tasty apple crisp! Like crumbles, crisps are very easy to make and require little prep work.

What Would You Make? Apples We know that apples are in season, and we can even identify one variety from the next, but how do you use apples? They're delicious raw and equally tasty cooked down to butter. The versatile fruit adds crunch to salads and classically fills a pie.

Reader Recipe: Apple Butter Browsing TeamSugar the other day, I was absolutely taken by a Fall recipe. This apple butter was created by Kitchen Goddess founder, Twinkle, when she wasn't able to locate any apple butter in her adopted homeland, Finland. Since she is a domestic divinity, she took matters into her own hands and came up with an original recipe.

Noteworthy Nibbles — Oct. 14-20, 2008 It's only Tuesday, but I'm already looking forward to the multitude of festivals this weekend. There are so many in the Bay Area alone that I can't decide whether to hit up the Santana Row Pear Festival, the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival, or the Monterey Wine Festival. I suppose I might just rock them all!

Fondue + You = Skewer . . . Dip . . .Yum On Friday, I caught a quick glimpse of Nigella Lawson on the Today show. She featured a Fall fruit fondue recipe so delicious looking I had to try it! Seasonal fruit (apples and pears) served with a delectable caramel fondue make for a simple but stunning dessert.

'Wich of the Week: Fall Gouda-ness Grilled Cheese When the produce bins brim with Fall bounty, I love to swap out the tomatoes on my sammies for sliced apple. Together with melted cheese, the slightly sweet, slightly tart fruit makes for a hearty autumnal meal. Though apple and cheddar is always a safe bet, last night I whipped up a grilled ham and cheese with one of my favorite indulgences: smoked gouda.

How-To: Make Quick and Easy Apple Votives One of my favorite Fall traditions growing up was picking apples on Columbus Day weekend. After piling into the car, my cousins and I would head up to an orchard nearby and pick more bushels of the fruit than we knew what to do with. Of course, apple pies were the obvious choice, but sometimes you can have too much of a good thing.
