I’m not even in the market for new bedding, but there’s something about an exceptional piece of velvet that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside (i.e. want to shop). Pottery Barn knows what I’m talking about: the retailer’s new
Velvet Linen Quilts and Shams (originally $39-$299, on sale for $24-$179) have that soft, weighty, and wintry texture and elegant diamond hand-quilting that instantly win my attention.

I remain somewhat impressed by
Pottery Barn's tech accessories, because even when they're overpriced, they usually hit the
right style mark.
The
Simple Dock in particular, is no exception; not only is it pretty nice looking (though my thoughts are still in conflict over whether I like the faux leather), but the size is great for a smaller place or desk. Which brings me to my next point; iPod docks these days keep showing up with so many bells and whistles and extras, and sometimes you — or a person you might want to give it to you — don't need all that.

A friend of mine has the
Neiman Marcus Mirrored Vanity ($899) and I love its flip-up center storage compartment, but I've been feeling lately that
mirrored furniture is heading for the "out" bin. So, I was delighted to come across the
Leah Desk ($469) in champagne at Pottery Barn. The desk also has a center section that lifts to reveal a beveled mirror and a faux drawer front that folds down to store accessories.

We may not all celebrate the same holidays, but when you think about it, most of us do celebrate these coming months as the season of dinner parties. We've all got our favorite
recipes and
decorations that help to personalize our parties. But before we can start accessorizing, we've got to have a place for our esteemed guests to sit.

I'm not a purple person. I think I overdosed on the color at a very young age because my mother lives and breathes purple . .

It used to be that faux leather or animal skin was second best and you avoided it, but in these more responsible times, faux things are preferable. Hence why I'm loving these faux crocodile and snake
Digital Camera Cases from Pottery Barn.
No cuddly reptiles had to die so your camera won't get damaged.

On first consideration, I thought these
Butterfly iPod Docks from PBTeen were too young for me, but then I remembered the
Vestalife Ladybug Dock, whose soaring popularity is so high because of its girlie, young design.
These docks are cute and fun, but what's not cute, young, or fun, is the $100 price tag! Pottery Barn needs to learn to not start their novelty peripherals at such a high price point, because I was this close.

One glance at the
Pottery Barn Canton Floor Lamp ($599), which stands more than five feet high with an oversize shade, and you know you're in the presence of greatness. With a transparent glass base and a linen shade, it's the counterpart to tall, dark, and handsome; the
Simon Baker to your
Clive Owen. If good looks aren't enough to sweep you off your feet, you'll be happy to know that Canton offers a little personalization as well.

Oh, man. You know you love this pillow. I love this
Star Wars Pillow, and I don't think I'm even PBTeen's target audience.

I recently introduced you to
Graham & Brown's Paste the Wall wallpaper, which applies easily by pasting the wall not the paper, and peels off in full sheets. I was certainly won over by the retailer's new wallpaper technology, not to mention their vast selection of beautiful patterns and didn't think it could get any better. But it turns out that the
Overlapping Leaves Wallpaper ($59.99, reduced from $84) not only pulls out in full sheets, but also has a preapplied adhesive that affixes effortlessly .
