Whoever said, "Don't judge a book by its cover," spoke too soon. The folks at
JudgeBy.com may disagree with me, but there are plenty of cases where a gorgeous cover is a sure sign that a fantastic read will follow, and
vice versa. When it came to
Domino: the Book of Decorating, I knew I was in for a page-turner when I spied the sumptuous wallpaper on its cover, and I was right.

This room, from a recent Domino slideshow, is united by one common factor. Can you tell me what unites this room? (Hint: It's not color, designer, or pattern!) All of the items in this room are ___________.

Last night I stopped by Domino's Home For the Holidays event at the CB2 store in San Francisco. In addition to checking out the inventory, I enjoyed some wine, yummy hors d'oeuvres, and a sneak peek of Domino editor Alison Hall's picks from CB2 for the holidays. I figured I'd give you a little event recap with some photos of the atmosphere, Alison's picks, and the fab CB2 products I've got my eye on.

Domino market editor Jennifer Condon has
a fun slideshow of products with a quatrefoil motif, an ornamental design of four lobes or leaves resembling a flower or four-leaf clover, which you know from Van Cleef & Arpels's "Alhambra" jewelry pieces (and
Heidi Klum's knock-offs). Her slideshow was inspired by this image in a 1971 House & Garden story showing readers how to create a Moroccan mood with quatrefoil stencils.
I've been seeing this growing trend of quatrefoil design in the home in plenty of other places.

If you're a fan of
poblanos stuffed with rice or any stuffed peppers, you'll love this new twist on the classic: Roasted peppers are filled with spaghetti instead of rice. The pasta is tossed in olive oil with pine nuts, olives, raisins, and capers.
This Mediterranean-inspired meal can be on the table in under an hour.

Domino has a
wonderful slideshow of table settings to inspire your holiday decorating, each image more stunning than the next. I was particularly taken with this setting, which is given a dramatic oomph thanks to a vase filled with rich brown pheasant feathers. The space is otherwise very simple .

Domino is one of my favorite shelter magazines simply because it offers so much to so many people. From approachable DIY ideas to luxurious furniture options, the magazine manages to mix styles and budgets while always looking effortlessly chic. Continuing in that tradition, the magazine's new book,
Domino: The Book of Decorating: A Room-by-Room Guide to Creating a Home That Makes You Happy ($32) offers something for everyone.

Eating this uncomplicated, vegetarian meal is like taking a trip to the French countryside. With its crisp potatoes and oozing egg, this salad is simple, elegant, and pure deliciousness. Feel free to substitute your favorite green for the frisée.
