I just got an email introducing me to a shop called
Spectrum West that sells "post modern acrylic furniture and accessories for the modern home decor enthusiast." As you know, I'm an enthusiast of both
acrylic furniture and modern décor, so it sounded right up my alley. Spectrum West is a new venture by
Spectrum Limited, a company that's been manufacturing high quality acrylic furniture for 25 years.

While Beehive Kitchenware Company does make measuring cups and lemon juicers, their range of fanciful metal accents ensures that you can use them in any room of your home. I have my eyes on
Beehive's Paisley Hooks ($27) myself, though there are plenty of other pieces that have enchanted me. The company, which is located in Massachusetts, is owned and operated by Jim Dowd and Sandra Bonazoli.

If you're in the market for some tableware or serving dishes, check out

I've told you about
patchwork chair makeovers and
facelifts for the Egg chair, but by far, my favorite patchwork reupholsterer is the iconic and eccentric East London company
Squint. Started by sculptor and painter Lisa Whatmough just three years ago, the company has grown by leaps and bounds, and now has a full range of items, from chairs and chaises to pendant lamps and mirrors.

I'm a huge fan of eco-minded furniture design shop The Joinery, which is located in Portland, OR. The Joinery handcrafts high-end furniture using traditional woodworking techniques in a variety of styles, including modern, shaker, mission, and arts and crafts styles, as well as custom pieces.
Taking a cue from the needs of its customers, who are often downsizing to smaller urban spaces, The Joinery has recently developed its Modern line.

If you're on the hunt for
eco chic upholstery fabric, then look no further than online shop
Rubie Green. The cool shop was launched by Domino contributor Michelle Adams, who wanted to make classical upholstery prints available in eco-friendly fabrics. All of Rubie Green's upholstery fabrics are made of 100% certified organic cotton, which is whitened without bleach and printed domestically with water-based, non-toxic inks that contain no
VOCs.

After the birth of their son, Oliver, Lucas and Margi Heldfond were motivated to open their Russian Hill, San Francisco eco-specialty store,
Spring. What's the correlation? They were troubled by the fact that air-tight homes seal in air pollutants.

Portland, OR, home accessories store
Canoe works on the premise of
providing "simple, beautiful, and functional objects that can be used and enjoyed everyday." Established in 2005, it's stocked with lovely offerings, everything from eco-design books to beautiful Japanese bud vases. While you can visit this beautiful, spare store at 1136 SW Alder Street in Portland, you can also take advantage of its online inventory, just in case you don't have a trip to the PNW planned anytime soon.
Chairloom is a Pennsylvania company that repairs, reupholsters, and reinvents vintage furniture pieces, mostly seating and ottomans, with fresh, stylish fabrics. Quality antiques in their own right, given a facelift with textiles like Schumacher, Oliveiera, Rubie Green, Virginia Johnson, and John Robshaw, owner Molly Worth's pieces are inherently high-end. Her keen eye for design takes the old to new levels, with her careful arrangement and selection of fabrics and perfect choices of Benjamin Moore paint color to make colors pop.
