The scrutiny has not yet cleared gymnasts who won the team bronze in Sydney eight years ago saying, "The FIG does not consider the explanations and evidence provided to date in regards to these athletes as satisfactory.''

In fact, Chinese officials estimate that since 2001, 600,000 Olympic-associated jobs were created each year. Now that the big games are over, China's labor force wants to use the skills to transition into new employment.

Medal Winners Mingle With McFly Olympics fever is still sweeping the nation, despite the fact the games ended a week ago now, and our admirable medal-winners are rightfully being spotted showing off their medals all over the place. On Saturday several Olympians – including sailing champions Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson – attended a bash celebrating National Lottery funded projects, along with famous faces like the dashing Gethin Jones and Olympic Party performers McFly. I have a feeling the Olympic spirit will continue right through until London hosts it in 2012 – it's going to be fantastic!
