If so, I'd love to hear your ideas. Really.

i'm not a fan of the fridge- but i like the idea of using a different object as a piece of furniture for in your garden. it's great how you did the floor, i might even dare to try something like this myself on our balcony!? (no garden.... )

I can appreciate your POV of the fridge. When I first starteed thinking about this project I was back and forth over what would serve the purpose. Then my quirky sense of humor kicked in and I came up with the idea for the fridge. Had this one not presented itself in such an advantageous way I would still be looking for patio storage. Too: I'm hell bent on reuse, reclaim and recycle so that was one of my goals: To keep the new product to a bare minimum and put some of my fabulous vintage finds to work.

Truth: My very first desire was a soda cooler. One of the old time Coke coolers that used to hold a water bath in the bottom. Their tops are water tight seals and, since they're back in vogue with the collectors, replacement seals for the doors are being remanufactured. Problem: Those things are pricey. Even in very rough [unusable] condition you will pay a bit more than a few hundred dollars.

I think your idea for the balcony is fabulous. It's rather easy to accomplish and relatively inexpensive. I'd LOVE to see pics if you do it. Seriously.
