Kimpossible: Thanks so much! We are so happy with how this has turned out. A good friend of my husband's stopped by today and cannot believe the difference. I'm so proud.

MartiniLush: Ha.Ha. But of course. The frieght might be a little much though. I'm anout an hour due north of Philadelphia.

Iwillmarryunick: The yard, as you call it, is being replanted and reseeded over the course of the weekend. Oh! But if I could only get the elves to do everything over the course of one night. Now that would be a dream. I'm also sorry that my project doesn't meet your taste level. Perhaps you have a better idea for storing tableware and linens in the out of doors. If so, I'd love to hear your ideas. Really.

Well if the easy way is what suits you then there are no other suggestions for me to offer. Sad but true.

BTW: I happened to read where you bought a house. COngrats to you. I'd just LOVE to see your take on renovations and decor in general.

i'm not a fan of the fridge- but i like the idea of using a different object as a piece of furniture for in your garden. it's great how you did the floor, i might even dare to try something like this myself on our balcony!? (no garden.... Sad )

I can appreciate your POV of the fridge. When I first starteed thinking about this project I was back and forth over what would serve the purpose. Then my quirky sense of humor kicked in and I came up with the idea for the fridge. Had this one not presented itself in such an advantageous way I would still be looking for patio storage. Too: I'm hell bent on reuse, reclaim and recycle so that was one of my goals: To keep the new product to a bare minimum and put some of my fabulous vintage finds to work.

Truth: My very first desire was a soda cooler. One of the old time Coke coolers that used to hold a water bath in the bottom. Their tops are water tight seals and, since they're back in vogue with the collectors, replacement seals for the doors are being remanufactured. Problem: Those things are pricey. Even in very rough [unusable] condition you will pay a bit more than a few hundred dollars.

I think your idea for the balcony is fabulous. It's rather easy to accomplish and relatively inexpensive. I'd LOVE to see pics if you do it. Seriously.
