My husband is an architect and while in school, we visited Chicago. They have a lot of buildings and projects dedicated to this. It's so good for our environment and cost-effective,too. Thanks for informing more people about it!

This reminds me of Little House on the Prairie! Didn't they live in a house built into a hill and it had grass on top? Or was that Lord of the Rings?

Actually at Johns Hopkins University we have a very large "green roof"- we built an underground garage and have a lovely quadrangle above it.

the main library in vancouver (downtown) has an amazing green roof. too bad the building looks like a cheap version of the Colosseum.

I've wanted a grass roof ever since our first trip to Norway. Besides being green, it's very pretty.
