Leo's Eco-Fabulous Toilet Comes At a Price

Ah, to be rich and eco-conscious in Hollywood today. Don't get me wrong—I love that Leo tools around in a Prius and Daryl Hannah drives a biodiesel El Camino. But still, sometimes I'm amazed by how much they'll pay for simple household fixtures. As part of an eco-fabulous remodeling project at his home, Leonardo DiCaprio has installed a $3,200 Toto toilet, which is fully loaded with a seat warmer, automatic flusher, and remote control. That's right—a remote control. Plus, the toilet seat automatically flips up when the user approaches it. Pretty high tech, huh?

While the toilet—reported to be the Toto Neorest 500—is supposedly also eco-friendly, at 1.6 gpf, it's still only average for water use. I think he may have done better with a dual flush toilet or even a composting toilet, though I don't know how well that would go over in LA.

To see a picture of the new toilet (yes, I know it's not as exciting as a picture of Leo, but still), just read more.

Here it is, in all its understated glory. What do you think? Is $3200 too much to pay for a throne?

uhm yes it is a little on the expensive side. i was expecting to see a bigger toilet, but that picture was kind of anti-climatic.

I work at Google and every restroom has toilets like these... I haven't tried any of the functions because they kind of freak me out.

If they are eco-friendly I might think about it, but yeah it is a little expensive.

I THINK ALL THE ELECTRONIC FEATURES WOULD WASTE ENERGY...so how eco friendly is it? seat warmer, automatic flusher, and remote control alll use ENERGY to function!

have you ever used one of these? its amazing, especially the seat-warming part on a cold winter's day....ahhh....

and i think the eco-friendly part comes from not really needing TP - at least for the ladies doing #1 - there is a wash and dry function. seriously, i used one of these at a spa and i'm so having one in my house someday. some people have dream kitchens. i don't cook. i have a dream toilet.

Whoopi was talking about this toliet on day on the view. she said she got it as a gift and thought its was silly. That was until she tried it and now she says she loves it. I would have to try it out first and if it DID come out as being eco friendly (and maybe save some money in the long run) then I might buy it.

I would SO buy that toilet, if I had the cash. We built our home 5 years ago and had the basic Toto toilets installed. They don't "do" anything, but look nice and have a comfy seat and save on water usage. The seats and lids also lower slowly and quietly instead of falling down in a bang!

i don't know that i would spend that much on a toilet - but clearly, he can afford a bit of luxury. this is definitely one thing that people use a lot, plus if you get a not-so-good toilet you seem to run into problems later on. as for the price though - hmm...well, Toto is an expensive brand i guess and it does have some interesting features. maybe he figures that if he spends so much on the "perfect" toilet he won't ever have to replace it, which is certainly not eco-friendly.

Where did Leo supposedly install this wonder toilet? Because from what I read, he rents his Hollywood house and his NY loft.
