We've had the same angel all my life (I'm 24) and I'm pretty sure she was around a good few years before I was born!
She won't be up this year though, we're heading over to San Francisco on the 19th of Dec and won't be back until the 9th Jan - too late to leave the decorations up!

    *excited*

I always top my tree with an old G.I Joe action figure holding up a wood carved star (as if to top the tree with it) . The action figure belonged to my uncle who died when he was 10 (He would be in his late forties now). The star was carved by my father.

I think at some point we've had all of these atop our Christmas tree. Definitely not traditionalists. I just bought a star to top the tree this year.

We have a beautiful glittery gold star on the top of our tree. I've been using it for several years and I love it.

My Mom has a beautiful angel we use to top our tree. She got it from an old neighbor of ours who used to own a craft store/ florist.

I have a Faerie Queen from a Hallmark collection a few years ago. She has fiber optic wings and a crown, just plug in a light and she glows.

We have collected different ornaments to put on our tree through our travels (like Murano glass from Italy, a panda from China, etc.) and so we top out tree with a small globe we put a hole in. It's been a fun tradition for us to get something new everywhere we go.

I have always had an angel as my tree topper, but this year is the first time I am decorating a tree myself, I think I may go for a star this year Smiling

Jillz, what a fantastic idea! I only wish that I had been enough places to do that. lol Maybe some day.

We've been switching between different (rather cheap) toppers for a couple of years because we couldn't find the Angel that we usually used. We had a flood in our basement a couple of years back and figured it was lost. Yesterday I moved a bunch of boxes from in front of a cabinet and opened it. There in the cabinet was a little box with "ANGEL" written in big letters. So, I guess we'll be using that this year! lol

I make my own bows for the top of my trees (I have 4 this year: 2 in my living room, one in the bedroom, and one in the kitchen), and have the ribbon divided into 4 sections cascading down the tree, usually about halfway. Occasionally I'll attach smaller ribbon of the same color to the back of the bow and have them cascading down as well. I absolutely LOVE decorating Christmas trees. I can't wait until next year when I can do it again!

My family has always used an angel, but I'm more a fan of stars. And how cute is that little girl in the picture!

my sister and i have a star at our apartment, but we spend christmas at what i call "home home" (Smiling) with a big red bow cascading down the tree! my mom is honestly the best tree decorator ever. she can take the scraggliest tree and turn it into a masterpiece.
