Love It or Hate It? Black Christmas Tree

This 6-1/2-foot-tall Black Shimmering Christmas Tree (on sale for $279) is supposedly the hot trend in artificial trees for Christmas holiday 2007. I would never get an artificial tree myself, but if I did, this wouldn't be the one on my wish list. Still, I can see that it has a certain charm. What do you think?

OMG that is hot. I would never have a fake tree either because I love the smell but this is awesome. If I lived in a place where I couldn't have one I would have this or a royal purple.

I'll stick to a real, green tree. I do know people who would love this tho.

I love this idea if you have to get a faux tree, like if you live in Manhattan and are not allowed to have real trees. It is chic and fun and the lights and decorations would really sparkle against it. Much more modern than the fake white/snow trees. It's like a sparkling black party dress for your house!

Why would someone want a black christmas tree??? It doesn't seem right or normal to me be even be concieved up from somone's head to paint or something like that to a tree just to make it black, instead of the normal green color that the christmas trees are.

Whatever happen to the tradional Christmas tree. We are celebrating the birth of Jesus not Halloween.

This trend started in England - particuarly London, a couple of years ago. They also flipped the tree upside down. I have had a black tree and it looks fabulous with the right decorations.

I can't decide. I find white trees to be too cheap-looking regardless of where it's from and the accompanying price tag. It's just something I can't get used to. I don't really like green trees, but at least they look real. If you want to get technical, though, a poor innocent tree chopped down in its prime isn't exactly celebrating LIFE or BIRTH, either. Eye-wink

I like it much better than the white trees or pink trees. Personally I love real trees, but I could see this with beautiful silver ornaments. I love it!

I am gonna have a green tree this year with nothing but pink and fushia ornaments and lights. Yes, I found pink lights. But if I would have seen this I would have changed my mind and done a black tree with silver! It reminds me of my fav movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas!

I hate this more than i can say.

The only way it would possibly work would be if it was in a black and white room and had al white lights and ornaments to keep it from looking too moribund.

here is why my family gets artificial christmas trees; fire. a friend of my parents house burned to the gorund and the husband spent almost a year in hospitals/rehab when a christmas light exploded and caught the house on fire. the fire spread so quickly that it melted the carpet and when the husband (who was only a few feet from the tree) crawled out of the house to avoid the smoke at eye level, it melted the skin on his hands and lower legs. we get a real wreath for that fresh pine smell.

undecided on this tree. with ailver balls that had red bows on them it could look fab.

amazing. i would love this and i think it would be *oh* so pretty with silver decorations or deep purple decorations......

it would definitely be dramatic but i think it would be wonderful. way better than a white tree or those hideous pink ones.

now if only it weren't so damn expensive!

It would be hard to do things half way with this tree. I think it's kinda cool, but you would really have to go all out...all of your decorations would have to be similar.

green trees are beautiful and I'm all for a bit of tradition...

    But i LOVE this! Smiling
    sliver ornaments and white lights?
    pink ornaments and pink lights?

I'd have it as well as a green traditional tree - something for everyone! Smiling

Why would people buy different colors of trees for Christmas, like white, pink, or black? I've always known that the green ones to be the traditional ones, not the mutlicolored ones that can be bought now.

Beautiful!- but I grew up with an artificial silver tree with a color wheel (all the rage in the 60s). My parents were safety freaks and we never had a real tree. I always felt bad looking at the dead trees on the curb after the holidays!

No no no no no! Christmas trees are supposed to be MERRY. I don't care if you choose to have an artificial tree, but make it colorful. This is just depressing. =[

I love it. If you could decorate it with silver and reds or blues.. it would be awesome. But it would just be decoration not for the real thing.

No. I already don't like artificial trees, so I find this (and the other fake colored ones) really ugly.
