Plastic bags: It's hard to escape them. Even though I bring cloth bags almost everywhere, I still have a collection of plastic grocery and department store bags. At Casa, I've told you how to make a cool bag out of plastic bags and I've also given you tips on what can and can't be recycled. Now, Treehugger has linked to Real Simple's list of 10 reuse solutions for plastic bags.

Some of these, like using plastic bags to pick up doggie deposits, are no-brainers. But some of the other ideas are ones I'd never thought of.

To find some simple-yet-innovative uses for plastic bags, just read more

  • Use plastic bags as paint preservers, by covering your brushes and rollers with bags with plastic bags, and then rubber-banding them to keep them airtight.
  • Peel and cut veggies and fruit over plastic bags. (But instead of then tossing them in the garbage, as advised, empty the peels and pieces into your compost instead!)
  • Use crumpled plastic bags in the bottom of planters to cut down on the amount of potting soil you use.
  • Want to read the rest of the tips? Then head over to Real Simple.

I use these bags for free and lightweight packing material when I have to ship something. It takes up the space but really doesn't add to the weight of the box.

I've used mine in a bean bag chair that started to feel low and not so stuffed. It works great.

I liked the idea about using them as gift wrap.

I use mine to pack lunches, line the little garbage can in the bathroom and I hang one in the laundry room to collect lint from the dryer..... and I still have some left over sometimes... I was thinking about getting a little tissue box to stuff them in or something for under my sink to keep them from flying all over!

I just use mine for when I clean the kitty litter. And then I tie it up and chuck it out.

all of these are great, i use them to line trash cans in every room except my kitchen because my kitchen has a huge trash can. I also use it for the kitty litter and for putting my blankets in in the summer so they don't get lint or dust on them

I use them for lunches, but when they pile up too much I drop them off at one of our grocery stores in town that recycles bags.
