Love It or Hate It? Outdoor Incense from Sprout Home

I love Sprout Home, but these Outdoor Incense Sticks ($18.50 for 10) are puzzling to me. The 16 scents are designed for outdoor entertaining, but I feel like it takes away from one of the major benefits of being outside, which is enjoying the fresh air. What do you think?

Depends on where you live, I think. Where I live now has lovely fresh air, so these seem pretty unnecessary. But I imagine I would've liked them during the couple years I lived in Iowa where, when you wanted to go outside, it was not unusual to have to endure the aroma of the hog farm that was just outside of town. Outdoor incense might've made things a bit more bearable in that case!

i wouldn't light them even in the city, where the air gets smoggy and frankly at times quite gross smelling.

I agree with piraterie...totally depends on where you live. My current house I wouldn't need them, but at the last place I lived, most definately. I lived next to neighbors who used curry every single night when cooking and at first it wasn't so bad but 2 years later....ugh. Now I hate anything with curry!

Not so much for me, although I agree with the previous posts... if you have yucky outside smells emanating from the neighbors it might a decent option!

It would have to be pretty strong in order for you to enjoy it. If you cannot smell it then what is the point.

It depends. Where I live, the air is fresh most of the time but once in a while, the wind blows in just the right (wrong) direction so that the odors from the dairy farm on the edge of town overtakes our yard. It is impossible to have a cookout or even work out in the yard when the stench is really bad.

hmmm... I'm undecided... the idea is great.. but the practical use... almost zero... like casasugar says the whole of being al fresco is for the fresh air, the delicate scents of the flora and fauna... so still undecided

Oh, I'm glad I live in the "sticks" in Iowa... lots of fresh air here!

I love incense and am game to try anything new. So I wouldn't judge it until I tried it. But I certainly wouldn't use it on a day that was already fresh with flowers and honeysuckle. More likely at night to create a mood.

^or maybe repelling them? who knows.

I can see this being something useful on maybe a screened in patio when there's not a huge breeze, otherwise your precious incense will be stankin up your neighbor's outdoor activities..

Actually now that I think about it, these could be pretty useful if you're out on the back porch smokin' a spliff and don't want the neighbors to think too much of it. Sticking out tongue Smiling

My boyfriend and I used incense when we were camping and the smoke actually kept most of the bugs away! Total god-send lol!

If these keep bugs away and smell better then citronella candles, then they are a good buy. If not, then I think it is a waste.

If they kept bugs away I would use them. I live in the city and it usually smells like bbq or chinese food here.

i like fresh air but often times people are smoking outside or there is a lot of car exhaust, so this is kind of a cool idea.
