Crave Worthy: Mobelform Doc Sofa/Bunk Bed

As a kid, it was really cool to have a bunk bed, especially if it was covered in something even cooler, like novelty sheets featuring The Smurfs or the Transformers. But this Transformer-meets-bunk-bed totally kicks the ass of all those other forms of coolness. I mean, really, how amazingly awesome is this Mobelform Doc Sofa/Bunk Bed?

Priced at $6,840 for the regular size and $8,660 for the extra-large version, this metal sofa bed converts from a couch to a bunk bed in just a few fluid movements. Yes, it is expensive, but awesomeness like this doesn't come cheap. Here's what it looks like in action:

This is a Transformer I can relate to. I would go see a movie about a sofa that turns into a bed. That is more than I can say about the real movie about Transformers.

I just made my hubby hurry to look at this. Wow! If it wasn't so expensive I would rush to the store and get one.

They had this bed in a hotel I stayed at in London years ago. It was the weirdest thing to find in a hotel room!

why are the coolest things so expensive? oh right, because if everyone had them, they wouldn't be as cool. i love the bunk beds. those would have been awesome to have at college.

It's not that useful to have bunks. Most of my guests are coupled up and they love my fold-flat futon couch so they can be next to each other.

I don't understand who would buy this. I don't particularly like it in either form, but even if I did, why would I pay $7000-9000 for a decent sofa or a decent bunk bed when I could buy a hell of a sofa AND a hell of a bed? Let's assume this is for people with spacial limitations--save the 7k and put it toward a bigger space! This is just ridiculous to me; it's obviously meant for people with more money than they know what to do with, lol.

like others, i love it but wow is that a hefty price tag. as a simple sofa, it's a good style but transforming into a bunk bed, now that's pretty cool. any idea if it's easy to convert into the bed?

Way cool!! If I had a boat load of cash, this would be great. My neighbor has a great kids room (an alcove that her little girl uses for the "bedroom" - think princess in a tower- and a really large open room that is the "playroom"). This would be a perfect piece for the playroom part of the "suite"
