Love It or Hate It? Seletti Chemistry Vase

A few years ago, I stumbled across a chemistry beaker at a flea market, and I've been using it as a bud vase ever since. Apparently, I'm not the only one who loves the look of delicate flowers stored in a sterile lab icon: Check out this Seletti Chemistry Vase ($35) and tell me what you think.

One of our friends is in getting his Phd in the sciences and this would remind me of him all the time. I love it!

My hubby's actually getting his PhD in Chemistry, I'm an artist, so I think it would be cute. If he wasn't, I don't think I'd like it as much. I can always have him steal flasks from his lab Evil

I like this idea — I saw a great set of tiny connecting test-tube vases a while back, and these are cool too.

I kind of like the really tall erlenmeyer flasks. also agree with the above commenter that they can be found cheaper elsewhere. ebay, life science suppliers etc. Labx.com is kind of the ebay of the life sciences and has a bunch of scientific glassware on the cheap.

I guess if I was buying a gift for a biology/science teacher this would be good...

I think it's a cool idea, but it's a little too geeky for me.

    I LOVE IT!

When we finally get to the kitchen, my counters are getting topped with Lab Top. It's that black-charcoal stuff on your chemistry desks in high school. It's virtually indestructible, stain-proof, water-proof, heat-proof. All that.

Eh. It brings back too many memories of high school chemistry, which I failed miserably! Sticking out tongue

I mean it's a cute gift for a science geek or medical professional!? It's quirky so I can see how people would like it but it's not my thing. I do like old funky bottles though.

Like many of you, I think that it would be good for a gift for that specific person. I, however, would not use it in my own home.

    LOVE IT.
Maybe that's because I'm a chemist, though. Rather than shell out $35 though, I think I'll swipe one or two from the lab. Don't worry, I'll thoroughly wash and autoclave them first. Smiling Don't want to bring home any of my lab proteins or e. coli by accident!

I love it. Of course, you could probably just get beakers from the chemical supply companies if you were that geeky... And I am, so those are fabulous!

I don't like the beakers, but I do love seeing just the one flower in a test tube. Cute.

A former roommate of mine took a couple of them from her lab at school and we used them as vases. Little did I know that our cheap asses where fashionable

It reminds me of working in the lab... a job I don't exactly miss. The science geek in me likes it, but I wouldn't want it sitting on my table.

i'm glad they aren't charging $862973528 for something you could get in just about any science classromm anywhere.

Having worked in labs too long, I like it, but I have seen better old vintage beakers and prefer those in amber color or frosted glass... and I would definitely swipe one from the lab (maybe a cracked one) before I shelled out $35!

It's a cute idea but it's not something I would use in my house. Maybe as a gift for your science teacher or something. I like more elegant things.

It's alright. I wouldn't mind vases shaped like that but without all the markings, although for some that's the purpose of it.
