Simple Style: Ladder Rungs As Racks

Lots of companies sell magazine racks that resemble ladders, like this Chiasso Scooter Magazine Rack ($11. But for a touch of character, try making your own rack out of an antique ladder. Readily available online and at flea markets and antique stores, rustic ladders can be propped up against a wall to hold all sorts of things: Real Simple recommends using ladders as racks for towels, periodicals, and jewelry, and I also like this use of a rustic ladder to hold quilts.

I do this too, as in I made little hooks to hang off each step so that I could hang all my bags, the only problem is when I actually need to use the ladder. I got too much stuff Smiling

Oh this is a neat idea. You could also hang the ladder on the outside on your woodfence with some decorations.

I'm a little tired of the look because you see ladders uses a lot in decorating with the "Pueblo" or "Santa Fe" style where I live. It is so overdone.

i like this idea a lot. its also a great way to hang sweaters and stuff like that. plus you can add hooks and hang hats on it. i like a mix of things on all of my furniture - my bookshelves not only have books but have pictures in frames, special momentos etc etc. it gives that nice crowded but special hand picked feeling to it.

The only ladder look I've liked is a friend who used a medium, opened stepladder, and placed oddments - big shells, glass jars with cool things inside ( but not for a home with kids!),
silver doodads, and a few antique tassels on the stepping part.

I like the look and have a huge ladder in the corner of my bedroom where the ceiling is 10ft. high. Very dramatic!!

Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck finding good, old ladders. However, when I do, I'd like two matching ones, place them side by side, and then put shelves in between the steps and use the whole contraption as a bookcase.

Again, we return to the whole shabby chic thing. I'm not a fan of the examples that you used, they just tend to make the location look that much more cluttered, however, the modern version of the angled step ladders is VERY cool.
