Before and After: An Inviting Attic

An underused attic space was recently given new life as a cheerful, teen-friendly hangout space. Beforehand, its beige walls and brown carpeting were definitely less than inspiring.

To see the results, read more.

To make the room functional, it was divided into smaller spaces based on the activities that would be done in each area, such as a computer area for doing homework and a comfy sofa area for hanging out with friends. Bright colors on the walls and furniture updated the space, and an eco-friendly cork floor is both a durable and unusual choice for this space. I think it looks great. What about you?

Not completely sold on the color scheme, but yeah, it's definitely a big improvement.

I agree. The color scheme is... okay. Seems like they just painted the place and added a colorful rug. Definitely an improvement from the "before" though.

Love the unconventional flooring but, like sunnynight, I'm not loving the color scheme. Overall - yes - it is a huge improvement.

I never would have thought of that color scheme but it def looks like something out of a magazine. I think it's really great.

It reminds me of trading spaces. It's not something I would put in my house, but it looks okay in a picture. I just hate that rug though!

Exactly a trading spaces inspired room. And i think thats its downfall, the room is not infused with enough character from the teens who actually inhabit the space. I am not sure if its an improvement.

Oh wow, I totally missed out on the teen friendly part. This is far from teen friendly. This is more early 20's bachelor pad or an oversized dorm room.
