Open House: Where Do You Need to Organize?

I'm currently in the process of organizing my closet, but because entropy is inevitable, there's been a lot of deliberation about what system works best for me. I've figured out how to best organize my hangers, and am trying to be diligent about hanging my clothes back up after I try them. And, I've organized my tops and sweaters by color. But I'm still working on the shoes; I think I have a gene that prevents me from keeping them in order, or at least looking neat. There are a few other war zones in my house that need to be handled with a peace treaty of some sort as well, particularly the garage. How about you? What area of your home needs to be organized, or reorganized? Where do you need to implement an actual organization system (inbox, outbox, labels, etc.)? Do you have any spots that are truly out of control? Are you disorderly to a point where it affects your efficiency? Tell me by commenting below!

I feel like everything in my house needs to be organized. Partly because some of it does, and partly because I'm nesting. I wish I could tip my house over and dump everything out and just start over sometimes.

I don't need to organize anything because my apartment is empty. We moved here and started over (different country so we left everything behind) a bit more than two months ago and we still haven't bought much. The last place was a giant mess and horrible to move out from so I got my lesson, I will be buying a lot less. I decided to only get things that I really love (even if they're expensive) instead of getting a lot of cheap stuff because it's cheap.

I need to organize my bedding and quilts. I've been trying to find a vintage chest or bureau to love or some kind of cabinet to house my linens but so far I've been unable to find anything interesting. I'm on my way to the Container Store. Perhaps in the interim, some stylish fabric covered boxes will help.

I actually need to organize my storage unit where I keep seasonal items and once in a while I stow away items I don't need in the house. I went this morning to try to work on it and all I did was stare at the mess for about a minute, closed the gate, locked it and left. Wasn't in too much of a mood to organize it.

living in NYC with my fiance in our one-bedroom apt - i think that there's always some element of 'out of control' in our organization. for me personally i think that it's shoes and coats. i thought that i had my shoes figured out but the boots just don't fit into the mix. t hat's always a problem because of the height thing - and my lack of height space for shoes. as for the coats - i think that the biggest problem is that we don't have a hall closet that can be used for coats since the closet in the front hall has been relegated to my fiance's clothes.

my shoes. We live in a small flat and I only have one drawer under the bed for clothes. My shoes that I dont wear often go in the second drawer (really hard to reach) but my shoes that i often wear sit under the radiator in a huge line. My Beau hates it as we both always trip over it but ive got nowhere else for them Sad

We have a 1947 house with very small closets and only 2 at that; after 25 years I just need a bigger house - we're working on that.

we just moved- and haven't totally unpacked yet...my kitchen is pretty organized, but that's about it. every other room has half-unpacked boxes...it's kind of overwhelming!

I've been working on my closet a little at a time for a month now. Weeding out old clothes and storing others. I bought some cheap open shelving and really like having everything where I can see it and using vertical space better. I still have a ways to go. I just bought some shoe bins that mount to the wall.

My husband's dj area -- Half of MY living room. It's the last place in the house to organize.

I don't know where to start and it kills me. Throws me so off balance I want to move or have someone completely redo everything and anything. I'm a very organized clean-freak and perfectionist.. so much that: I cry about it sometimes. It bothers me that much. This one fk'n around that is in the center of it all, completely fk'd up. (His mom gives me this weird smile, like I make too big of a deal out of it.....)
