This Just In: Ryan Phillippe Buys a Zen Palace

Ryan Phillippe has purchased a 5-bedroom, 7-bath home in LA’s Hollywood Hills for $7.175 million, according to Big Time. Built in 1998 by producer Sylvio Tabet, the home, appropriately named "Rising Zen" is a mixture of Asian and modern architecture, but has an overwhelming Zen presence to it. According to listing information, it features "a large separate private master suite, a Koi pond, maple floors, a step-down bar with an aquarium backdrop, a dining room with Shoji screen doors, two flat-screen TVs, a gym, an office, a media room, three additional bedroom suites, and city and ocean views," as well as a "60-foot eco-friendly pool, an outdoor shower, a fire pit, a bar, [and] a gazebo." I would never have pegged Ryan for a Zen guy, and maybe he's not. But I think once wiped of its innumerable Asian furnishings, the house's unusual architecture and city and ocean views make it a coveted crib, filled with light and a remarkable feeling of openness. Check out the photos and tell me what you think!

There are dozens more where these came from, so read more.

So, you let your wife make all the money, cheat on her, divorce and use her money to buy yourself a mansion. I have no respect for him.

I like the materials that the architect used. I wish they would give the architect credit on these things instead of only mentioning who owned it last, like that matters. The scale is a bit off in places (see master bedroom) but excessive squarefootage aside, there are some decent details. I do not much care for the decoration. It feels more themed out and disney-like than a sophisticated asian influence, but then again it IS LA. Maybe he did not purchase the house fully finished and can make it look a little nicer. I just hope he can make it a nice home for his children.

    Gorgeous house.

Sarah- I'm sure he's not happy that his ex-wife had a bigger career than him. He didn't let her make all the money, I'm sure he'd rather have the big career and make all the money. Why is it okay for a woman to get a big settlement but not a man?

usually it's ok for a man to get a big settlement as a woman does. it seems wered in R&R case. because it is the man who thinks it's Not ok for a woman to get a bigger career.

stunning home, def one of my fave celeb homes cos it's not the usual type. I love all the panelling, and i'd tone down asian part and bring in more modern but not completely - it's quite perfect! lucky ryan.

Is there access to a floor plan picture? I would love to use this as an inspiration for a school project.

I agree I have no respect for him at all. Just imagine being in Reese's place right now and your ex bought a brand new house with the money she worked hard for just so he and that Abbie girl can have sex in it. I would be pissed just thinking about the smallest things like that.

The house is beautiful but nothing compared to the one Reese bought. I checked out Reese's place and hers looks waayyy better that this one.

Maybe Reese isn't bitter and realizes that Ryan spent alot of time while they were married parenting his children while she worked as well as making movies of his own. Between Breach, Gosford Park, Antitrust, Flags of our Fathers, and Stop Loss I'm sure he made a total of $7 million. So maybe she realizes that their settlement was fair and her childrens' happiness depends on not being hateful toward their father. People who are petty and vindictive never find happiness. They both seem to have moved on and found peace and good relationships.

The house has a great view! And lots of beauty. He can take out lots of the interior furniture and the kids can play soccer indoors! And it seems pretty private, so he and his kids maybe wont be so hounded by paparazzi. And an exercise room! Is it a further drive from Reese's house?

He deserves it. He's a good guy, he has to be, or Reese would not have married him in the first place. And a great dad, I believe. I think he really wants to protect his kids and this looks like a safe place.

I think Abbie loves him more than he loves her. I hope he takes his time to find the right person.
