This Just In: Lauren Conrad's Heart Is Broken

That's right. Get out your box of tissues and prepare yourself for this sob story. Lauren Conrad's parents have put her adolescent home, of Laguna Beach fame, on the market for a cosmic $17.9 million, according to Real Estalker. Natch, LC will be experiencing some serious withdrawal issues once the sale goes through, yearning to revisit the place that marked her entrance into "reality" television fame-dom and reminisce over the memories of undying flame Stephen Colletti and her teenage angst. If you've been wondering where LC gets her artistic streak, I should probably note that her parent's 8,000-square-foot, 7-bedroom, 6.5-bath home was actually designed by Papa Conrad himself, otherwise known as architect James Conrad. The property boasts "200-year-old reclaimed oak timbers and hand-carved stone fireplace mantels," an infinity pool seeming "to spill into the Pacific Ocean below," and superb panoramic ocean views. If you ask me, I'd say that LC has a much better eye for real estate than her parents.

i don't know what so bad about the house...?
i wouldn't mind 8000 square feet of anything.

I wonder why they are selling, Daddy not making anything new because of the market right now?

I like it. I like that from the outside it doesn't look like much, it's very deceiving.

It's often hard to move away from the house you grew up in and then when parents sell it, it's harder, because then you know you can't ever go back to visit. I feel for her.

Sad that I know this, but she didn't grow up there, I remember on Laguna Beach, her and Stephen going to see it when it was under construction, I think maybe it was her senior year home, and the year after that before she moved to LA but not her childhood home.

Okay, I did some investigation and it looks like the Conrads purchased the property in 1997, but the listing information indicates the house was built around 2004. But, the key word in my post was "adolescent" home!

I am in love with the property and the pool. Some of the styles in the house are not my taste, but some features are absolutely gorgeous.

i can't believe i'm going to admit this, but when i watched that special "the hills" recap i saw old footage of her and jason at her parents house right after it was built and it was absolutely gorgeous, both outside and inside. these pics make it look kind of kitsch-y for some reason, but i seriously remember loving it. and that pool is kind of amazing lmao.

I think the house is gorgeous, as I remember from watching LC lounge around it in Laguna Beach. It was really cute when her and Stephen were walking around it when it was getting built, the hot tub thing was cute. There was also an episode of LB where Lauren's younger sister had a pool party there.

I do wonder why they are selling it, maybe they are moving? As I remember, her younger sister from the last Laguna Beach should have already graduated, and probably is in college, so maybe they want a smaller house?

Accordingly, the high-end real estate market has largely not been affected by the housing bubble. I'm not speaking about your typical McMansions built by large stock builders with shoddy lending practices, speculative buyers and homeowners walking away from a negative equity situation. I'm sure they can command that price and probably will get around that price when it closes. It's a lovely home with spectacular views.

i think that this location is better than LC's hollywood property. beach property is usually worth more, especially with that view. i'm not too found on the exterior of the house though.

Gorgeous home! I would be upset too if my parents sold it but I guess they wanted a change. She always has her memories of the home wherever she goes, no one can take that away!

I wouldn't want my parents to sell THAT house too! Imagine growing up there, the view alone is to DIE for! A little interior redecorating would make that abode heaven. I wish I had 18M. sigh

Something is very fishy about this house being put on the market. Here's why. On one of the Laguna Beach DVD special features, LC gives a tour of this house. During the tour she pointed out where LC's dad handcrafted a fireplace and it had the Conrad past generation name inscribed in it and LC said when they pass it down to the children she can just remove part of the first hame and it said Lauren Conrad or something like that. I got the impression from this house tour that they were going to keep the house in the family name and pass it down generation after generation. The only thing I can think of is maybe they are scared for a landslide. The landside on Laguna Beach episode was AFTER this house was built. I wonder if the house is insurable for land slides, maybe it isn't so they are scared that if there is a land slide they will lose their home like so many others did in that landslide (as there was no insurance to cover for a landslide. But I am DYING to know why a family heirloom is going to be sold. Something trivial but interesting is when Jim Conrad dropped those palms down they were symmetrical and pointed toward each other. One of those palms has shifted. Anyway, I want to know why they are selling it.
