Midday Muse: Grown-Up Taste For a Tot's Space

When a New York couple had to make room for kid space in their open loft, they compromised by mixing grown-up taste with kid-friendly furnishings. Here, two pushed-together beds create a space big enough for a crowd, while Timorous Beasties wallpaper and an Ingo Maurer chandelier (toned down with sheets of drawings hung from it) make this space truly a balance of adult design and children's needs.

How do you moms out there strike a balance between kid-friendly furnishings and your own interior design ideas?

I'm not a mom, but I LOVE that room! So beautiful and sweet. Great design. Guess I'm still just a big kid.
