Do You Use a Vanity?

I'm pretty torn over vanities. On one hand, there's a timeless elegance to them, particularly beautifully crafted antiques, and the thought of taking the time each day for yourself to use one is a pleasant one. On the other hand, wake up! It's the 21st century, and who has time to sit and fawn over themselves in front of a vanity, let alone put on mascara looking in the rear view mirror of your car?

Regardless of their utility, I think we can all agree that a vanity like this one can add a classic, chic touch to any chambre.

We have one that belonged to my husband's Grandmother that was part of a bedroom set. I display old family photos on it.

I've always kind of wanted one, but I've never had the space.

I've had one for years. Never had a bathroom with space for makeup and all that stuff so I got a cheapie vanity to sit down at. Makes everything neat and organized and thus makes my morning go FASTER. Wish I had a cool antique one like this!

I have that belonged to my great great grandmother. I use it in the hallway as a console type table. I get lots of compliments on it. It is really a versatile piece.

I own a pretty antique one that was once my mom's...I very rarely sit at it though. I display my jewelry boxes and my perfumes on it.

i would love one and hopefully would have one in my future apartment. i'm not a girl who gets ready in the bathroom so i'd love a sit down place in my room where i could get ready. i do everything on my bed now and it's kind of a pain lol.

I have one and I love it. It stores all of my beauty products and I put my makeup on and do my hair in front of the mirror every day!

I have one but it's actually a desk and a mirror that was attached to the wall. It's a lot easier to sit down and do my makeup there and put it right back away than it is to have it all on the bathroom counter.

Vanities don't have to be all frou frou! I like to get ready at home in 5 minutes - really! and I wear makeup! and be done with it rather than apply en route to work.

About a year ago I started jones-ing for a vanity. Not sure why. I don't wear makeup but I love taking the time to pick out jewelry.

Alas my bedroom (and budget) doesn't currently have the room for a nice one.

I agree with comments above--if I had the space I would have one. I have such bad eyesight that I have to get sooo close to the bathroom mirror--so I would love to sit down, close to a mirror, and put on my makeup. Ohhh---a girl can dream!

I've had one for quite a few years that was a hand me down from a great aunt. It actually has a matching dresser as well and I think they're lovely and beautiful. Unfortunately I had to leave them behind once I moved out of my parents house. Hopefully once I settle down a little more permenantly, I'd love to take them back again.

Sounds like a lot you would like to have a vanity! I suppose I should have had better foresight on this one : )

I have a marble one built into my bathroom. I think it was originally a 2nd sink. I love my vanity. When I saw it, I knew I was buying the house. I like to keep everything out that I use regularly but hate sink clutter. Match made in heaven!

i really want one - just a place to sit down and also to put all my jewelry in etc would be so cool. i'd like an antique one but haven't yet seen one that is perfect and in my price range...not that i have a spot to put one just yet.

I would really love to have one...I spend twenty to thirty minutes perched or leaned into my bathroom mirror every morning...it would be so much nicer and chicer and more comfy to be able to put a vanity where there's great light and put in that hair and makeup time there instead...Casa, perhaps you could round up suggestions or options? Hmmm?

my college roommate had one that she found at the salvation army and refurbished, and i've been dying for one ever since i spotted hers. i have to say that west elm's vanity (which i have been eyeing for MONTHS) is more up my alley than this one, though.

I love having my own little space to get ready for my day. If I lived alone, my bathroom could serve as my vanity, but with a family, that room is in demand in the mornings. So I have a place in my bedroom with a mirror, makeup brushes away from that bacteria and in a pretty vintage tea tin, and jewelry lovingly displayed. It's great!
